Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Dendreon Corporation is a publicly held biotechnology company developing therapeutic vaccines, monoclonal antibodies and small molecule candidates for the treatment of cancer and other diseases.

We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Manager to oversee the implementation and administration of environmental health and safety programs for staff and facilities. Ensure company compliance with all local, state, and federal occupational safety, health, and environmental laws, regulations and guidelines.

Description:

  • Develop and implement multi site, company wide environmental, heath and safety programs, policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Advise and train the various departments regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations, to include OSHA, WISH L&I;, and EPA and CFRs.
  • Improve the safety culture of the company, ensuring that all implemented programs are enforced and followed throughout the company.
  • Develop and implement company wide safety, environmental and emergency management programs designed to respond to potential situations within the biotech industry in order to improve overall safety.
  • Keep up to date on current federal, state and local regulations, legislation and changes in safety codes.
  • Monitor and inspect facilities to ensure compliance with company safety policies in accordance with all regulations.
  • Conduct on-site investigations of accident and incidents. Prepare reports and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging issues and trends in the industry as it pertains to safety.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years related work experience.
  • Must have experience planning, implementing & executing such programs in the Biotech industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local safety, environmental and heath regulations and procedures as it applies to the biotech industry.
  • Experience in managing safety programs in a GMP and GLP environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems & procedures.
  • Must be able to work in multi-group environment.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service and selling skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • The job is performed in a lab, office, or utility (noisy) environment.
  • Must have the ability to work around laboratories, manufacturing areas and equipment and regularly lift 10 – 20 lb and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
