Patent Agent

Seattle Genetics, Inc. is a new and growing biotechnology company based in Bothell, Washington.The Company is in clinical and preclinical development with several targeted agents for the treatment of carcinomas, melanomas, and hematologic malignancies. Seattle Genetics also has an active drug discovery effort.

In this newly-created position, duties would include drafting and prosecution of patent applications, docket and file management, facilitating annuity and maintenance payments, implementing and managing patent and license database, conducting scientific literature and patent searches and generating reports. Further duties include assisting with licensing and Material Transfer Agreements.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

Registered Patent Agent with 3+ years of hands on patent preparation and prosecution experience in a legal environment. Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Molecular Biology or Immunology, or related degree. Demonstrated expertise with portfolio management and Patent and Trademark Office rules. Prior experience managing a patent database as well as ability to perform patent searches. The successful candidate will be a team player who can effectively communicate with and engage all levels of the organization verbally and in writing. This person will also have the ability to produce clear, understandable documentation geared for all audiences.
