Quality Control Bioassay Specialist

Seattle Genetics, Inc. is a new and growing biotechnology company based in Bothell, Washington.The Company is in clinical and preclinical development with several targeted agents for the treatment of carcinomas, melanomas, and hematologic malignancies. Seattle Genetics also has an active drug discovery effort.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible for optimizing, validating and performing routine and non-routine bioassay and other analytical testing in support of Seattle Genetics' development projects.

DETAILED DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a Bioassay Specialist in the Quality Control (QC) group, the primary responsibilities will be to lead in the optimization, validation, and routine performance of immunochemical and cell-based biological lot release test methods for antibody based products. As a technical expert, you will provide technical guidance and expertise to the QC group for the application of cell-based, biochemical and immunochemical assays. Additional responsibilities will include cell culture maintenance, training analysts, and troubleshooting assay issues/lab investigations. Requires applied knowledge of good manufacturing practices and good laboratory practices on a daily basis. Responsibilities also include representing the group in interactions with other departments and external collaborators for assay transfers and technical support, as well as summarizing and presenting data.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

The successful candidate will have a BS in a relevant field and a minimum of 3 years experience in developing/performing cell based, biochemical and immunochemical assays. The successful candidate must have extensive hands-on experience and in-depth understanding of the fundamentals of cell biology. Experience in cell culture is required. Prior GMP or QC experience is highly desired. The position requires the ability to work independently as well as with a team, handle multiple projects, demonstrate initiative, strong attention to detail, with effective verbal and written communication skills.
