Scientist, Bioanalytical

Seattle Genetics, Inc. is a new and growing biotechnology company based in Bothell, Washington.The Company is in clinical and preclinical development with several targeted agents for the treatment of carcinomas, melanomas, and hematologic malignancies. Seattle Genetics also has an active drug discovery effort.

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist with analytical and bioanalytical methods development expertise. The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing state of the art analytical methods for the characterization and routine testing of antibody and antibody-drug conjugate based products. Development and qualification of bioanalytical methods for the detection of drug and metabolites in tissues and other biological matrix is also highly desired.

The scientist will play a key role in expanding the company's expertise and capacity in the area of analytical and bioanalytical characterization, methods development, validation and routine analysis. The objective is to provide support for the discovery and development of new antibody-based drug candidates.

This successful candidate will play a key role in representing the department on integrated project teams, acting as a liaison with other functions within the company and presenting key findings to senior management. Other responsibilities will include writing reports, manuscripts, and documents to support research, development and regulatory filings.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analytical or bioanalytical methods development, optimization, qualification & validation.
  • Quantitative analyses of antibodies, antibody drug conjugates, impurities and degradation by-products.
  • Analysis of drugs and metabolites in biological matrices.
  • Perform work in compliance with GLP & cGMP.
  • Hands-on position requiring significant lab work and the handling of biological fluids.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • PH.D. in protein chemistry, biochemistry, analytical chemistry or related field with 2+ yrs relevant experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Requires experience designing and performing assays in one or more areas including cell based assays, immuno-reactivity based assays; and analytical protein chemistry.
  • Requires good organization skills and the ability to interact with scientists in all areas of the drug development process.
  • Previous supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in a cGMP/GLP environment is a plus.
