Drug Discovery Team Leader, Renal Fibrosis

Responsibilities:

You will assume leadership of an existing team of experienced and talented scientists in Drug Discovery charged with discovering new drugs for the treatment of Renal Fibrosis. In this position you will be expected to:

  • Provide scientific and professional leadership to the Renal Fibrosis Drug Discovery Team by leading the team in the evaluation of opportunities for drug discovery in the area of renal fibrosis, end stage renal failure, or chronic kidney disease.
  • Mentoring a talented team of senior scientists and technical staff.
  • Write and deliver goals and periodic updates of project and department progress.
  • Develop and manage an annual budget.
  • Participate in the evaluation of internal and external drug discovery opportunities.
  • Participate in the overall management of Biological Sciences at ICOS.

Requirements:

  • MD or PhD with 8 or more years of relevant post-doctoral or industrial experience, or the equivalent.
  • A record of academic or industrial experience with fibrosis, diabetic nephropathy, end stage renal failure, or chronic kidney disease.
  • Scientific expertise in one or more aspects of the cellular and molecular events associated with the progression or resolution of fibrosis.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent technical and non-technical communication skills, both verbal and written Familiarity with the regulatory and technical elements of drug discovery and development.
  • Experience with biological and/or small molecule drug discovery.
