Senior Application Developer

Would you like to join one of the world’s leading contract research organizations? MDS Pharma Services is currently seeking a Sr. Application Developer at our Bothell, WA location.

This position will serve as Senior Developer for the discovery and preclinical business unit of MDS Pharma Services. Support SMART system - a highly critical and visible business application using Microsoft technologies, including Visual Basic 6, SQL Server 7 and T-SQL. Provide support to business users (local and for lab in Taiwan) in case of technical problems or requests for ad-hoc reports (SQL queries).Handle replication issues or manage replication synchronization between Taiwan and Bothell and within Bothell for our SQL Server 7 databases. Design, and implement new features, and provide support for PharmaExpress - a business web application for clients to access their data reports, using Microsoft .NET 2.0 technology (C#) for middle-ware components and Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 for the front-end web applications. Provide maintenance and support for the Quoting tool (a Windows .NET application running on laptops) using Microsoft .NET 2.0. Design, implement new features, and provide support for Online Catalog –a web application that presents our products and services – using Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0. Maintain and enhance business critical data reports using Actuate reporting technology and tools. This also requires a basic understanding of the scientific data presented in the reports.

Skills Required:

• At least 2 years of Microsoft .NET C# experience.
• At least 2 years of ASP.NET experience. JavaScript knowledge desirable.
• At least 4 years of Visual Basic 6 experience.
• At least 2 years of SQL server database programming experience including T-SQL. Experience with transactional replication desirable.
• At least 2 years of experience with OO programming and OO design.
• Willingness to take responsibility for one’s work, including good testing practices and applying QA standards.
• Basic skills in reading and creating UML diagrams required.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to think on an abstract, conceptual level.
• Good communication skills.
• Willingness to learn new technologies.
• Quick learner.
• Ability to work independently and to apply in-house programming and design standards and procedures.
• Good sense of aesthetics.
