Institute for Systems Biology

Research Associate

The Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) is an internationally renowned non-profit research institute dedicated to the study and application of systems biology. Founded in 2000 in Seattle, Washington, ISB’s goal is to unravel the mysteries of cellular networks and identify strategies that will usher in a new era of predictive, preventive and personalized medicine.

The Aderem Lab at the Institute for Systems Biology is seeking a research associate to join a group effort to analyze the global transcriptional networks involved in innate immune signaling.

Goals and responsibilities:

The candidate will join an ongoing project to produce data for computational modeling of transcriptional networks using approaches such as oligonucleotide microarray analysis and chromatin immunopreciptation analysis using oligonucleotide arrays (ChIP chip). The candidate will be involved in helping to produce and analyze these data and may participate in further experimental validation and exploration based on results obtained through these large-scale investigations.

Requirements:

A B.S. degree and a minimum of 2 years laboratory experience are required. The position requires a thorough knowledge of basic molecular biology and cell culture. Duties may include the following: cell biology techniques including the culture of primary mouse cells and the transfection of cell lines; molecular biology techniques including PCR, cloning, sequencing, real-time PCR and RNA isolation and processing for oligonucleotide microarrays; biochemistry techniques including ELISA, PAGE, western blotting and chromatin immunoprecipitation. Experience with all these techniques is not required but familiarity with several will be an asset.

Applicants should email a resume/CV, three references, an employment application, and affirmative action form (both downloadable from the Careers page of our website at www.systemsbiology.org) to hr@systemsbiology.org. Please include job number 06-009 in all correspondence regarding this position.
