Project Manager I

Job Description:

This new position will report to the Associate Head in the Program in Infectious Diseases and work independently in performing daily responsibilities, referring project issues on an as necessary basis. Special skills and knowledge are applied in coordinating research and administrative activities, developing research and administrative materials, and in carrying-out complex research assignments. May supervise project staff.

Job Duties:

  • Work with investigator to maintain a realistic timeline and supporting budget needs as the project matures.
  • Coordinate complex research and administrative activities, ensuring all projects are completed according to project timelines.
  • Develop and administer polices and procedures according to grant/contract, federal, and Center specifications.
  • Serve as project liaison, representing the project to investigators and administrative staff at collaborating institutions.
  • Coordinate grant/contract application and renewal process, and assist administering grants and contracts budgets, as well as writing portions of grants/contracts as required.
  • Coordinate with investigators at collaborating research sites in determining eligibility of patients for research studies. Maintain records concerning enrollment of patients on research studies.
  • Oversee collection of documents required to satisfy regulatory requirements (consent forms, IRO approval documents at collaborating institutions, etc). Prepare files for audits. Attend audits, assist in addressing any issues raised at the audits.
  • Develop and administer policies and procedures according to protocol, IRB, and Center specifications.
  • Coordinate submission of protocol applications, renewals and modifications. Responsible for data quality monitoring.
  • Produce special and recurring reports as requested by investigators. Performs other responsibilities as required.
  • Attend committee meetings, prepare meeting agendas, monitor activities to ensure objectives have been met within designated time frame, and coordinate follow-up activities.
  • Develop, review, edit, and revise administrative materials.
  • Coordinate the submission of study results, articles, and manuscripts for publication, writing portions of articles/manuscripts as required.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

BA/BS in related field required. MA/MS desired. Formal training in Project Management desired. Previous experience working with research/academic financials and grant/contract systems desired. Minimum of three years post-master's or five years post-bachelor related project/study management experience in a clinical research setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated experience using software tools to manage timelines, milestones and budget. Strong supervisory skills and budgeting experience required. Grant and contract experience strongly preferred.
