Access ERIC -- The Educational Resources Informational Center is a nationwide information service designed to make education literature readily accessible. At the heart of ERIC is the largest educational database in the world containing 900,000 abstracts of documents and journal articles, curriculum materials, conference proceedings and literature reviews.

Access Excellence -- Provided by Genentech Corporation, Access Excellence assists high school teachers by providing peer contact, access to scientists and research laboratories, and many other resources.

Actionbioscience.org -- A non-commercial, educational web site created to promote bioscience literacy by providing articles by scientists, science educators, and science students on issues related to seven bioscience challenges: environment, biodiversity, genomics, biotechnology, evolution, new frontiers in science, and bioscience education. In addition, the web site provides educators with original lessons and resources to enhance bioscience teaching.

American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) -- The AAAS provides extensive resources ranging from Science news and career resources to radio programs and online forums.

Association of Science-Technology Centers -- The Association of Science-Technology Centers Incorporated (ASTC) is an organization of science centers and museums dedicated to furthering the public understanding of science among increasingly diverse audiences.

Balloon Molecules -- Learn to build chemical molecules using modelling balloons.

BioPharmaceutical Technology Center Institute (BTCI) -- The BTCI is a not-for-profit organization, operated exclusively for educational, scientific and cultural purposes. BTCI, located in Madison, Wisconsin, is involved in developing and implementing programs which provide hands-on, lab-based experiences to Pre K - Grade 12 students and their teachers. BTCI also offers training in biotechnology and biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

BioRAP® -- Biological Research for Animals and People (BioRAP), published by Connecticut United for Research Excellence, Inc., is a discovery series for inquiring science and health students, teachers and the others interested in biological research.

Biotechnology for the 21st Century -- A report from the Biotechnology Research Subcommittee, Committee on Fundamental Science and the National Science and Technology Council (published July 1995).

The Biotechnology Institute -- The Biotechnology Institute is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to education and research about the present and future impact of biotechnology. We offer educational and research programs for teachers, students, opinion leaders and general audiences to raise awareness and understanding of biotechnology.

Black Facts Online -- An on-line searchable database of Black History Facts.

Brainium -- The Brainium is an interactive online science site for grades four through eight. The Brainium features interactive learning through educational games, activities and animated adventures.

Changing the Face of Medicine -- "Changing the Face of Medicine: Celebrating American's Women Physicians" is an on-line exhibit honoring the lives and achievements of women in medicine, with interactive activities, lesson plans, and related links. This exhibit is also on display at the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland through April 2, 2005.

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory's DNA Learning Center -- The DNA Learning Center is an educational unit of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world-renowned research institution. The Learning Center offers a range of programs and materials in DNA science targeting several educational levels. The site includes a PCR animation, Student Allele Database, program information, hot links, and more.

Cornell Theory Center K-12 Gateways -- The Cornell Theory Center Math and Science Gateway for secondary school students and educators provides an easy starting point for locating science and mathematics resources on the web. It is tailored to the needs of students in grades 9 through 12, with links to resources in subject areas such as astronomy, biology, chemistry, computing, the environment, health, mathematics, and physics.

Council for Biotechnology Information -- The Council for Biotechnology Information communicates science-based information about the benefits and safety of agricultural and food biotechnology.

CyberSmart! -- The CyberSmart! School Program develops curricula, training programs for professional development and related services designed to help educators empower students to take full advantage of computers and the Internet.

Dictionary of Cell Biology -- Published by Academic Press, the Dictionary of Cell Biology is intended to provide quick access to easily-understood and cross-referenced definitions of terms frequently encountered in reading the modern biology literature.

Discovery Online -- Discovery Online provides real-life non-fiction entertainment covering nature, science and technology, history, and world exploration in various multimedia formats.

DNA Files -- The DNA Files, a series of nine public radio documentaries, explains how genetic revolution affects us every day: our health, our food, our families.

DNA from the Beginning -- An animated primer on the basics of DNA, genes, and heredity.

Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Math & Science (ENC) -- ENC provides a collection of curriculum resources for teachers, including professional development activities.

Electronic Nobel Museum Project -- The goal of the Electronic Nobel Museum Project is to build a virtual Nobel museum of science and culture on   presenting popular, educational, and scientific documents describing work recognized by the Nobel Prizes and the Bank of Sweden Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. The project was initiated in 1996 by the Nobel Foundation and the Nobel Prize Awarding Institutions.

ERIC Clearinghouse for Science, Mathematics, and Environmental Education -- One of the Educational Resources Informational Center's sixteen subject specific educational clearinghouses.

Food Safety.gov -- A gateway to government food safety infornation, including news and safety alerts, consumer information, educational resources, and more.

Government Information Sharing Project -- The Government Information Sharing Project is funded by the U.S. Department of Education and administered at Oregon State University Libraries.   A comprehensive statistical resource for small and large businesses, economic development professionals, researchers, students, educators, journalists, state and local government agencies, and more.

Grants for Science Education, Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) -- Since 1988, HHMI has provided grants totaling more than $617 million for students from preschools through graduate school, teachers, and institutions that share HHMI's quest for excellence in science education.

Guide to Math & Science Reform -- A comprehensive searchable database with concise information on initiatives and organizations responding to America’s call for better science and mathematics education for all K-12 students. Updated twice monthly, The Guide, an Annenberg/CPB Project, profiles strategies, impact, funding, and other details about changes in mathematics and science education nationwide.

Heart Preview Gallery -- An online exploration of the human heart, complete with heart beat sounds, teacher resource materials, classroom activities, glossary and more. Developed by The Franklin Institute Science Museum with support from Unisys Corporation.

High School Chemistry -- The American Chemistry Society’s Education Division supports high school chemistry teachers and students through curriculum projects, classroom resource materials, teacher training, and mini-grants. Staff members also provide support services for activities such as career fairs and workshops, and direct a variety of other activities to attract students into careers in chemistry.

Interactive Frog Dissection -- The Interactive Frog Dissection was designed for use in high school biology classrooms. Research with pre-WWW versions of this program suggests that it is a valuable preparation tool or even a useful substitute for laboratory dissection.

International Museum of Surgical Science -- This online museum portrays many of the personalities, failures and breakthroughs that have shaped modern surgery, and includes collection of over 7000 surgery related objects, rare manuscripts and works of art.

Internet for Educators -- A wealth of educational resources for all areas of education.

Iowa State University, Biotech Center -- A biotechnology public education program providing teaching tips for teachers, archived Iowa Biotech Educator newsletters and the Biotechnology Information Series -- a set of publications being developed by ISU Extension and the Office of Biotechnology providing easy-to-read information about biotechnology products and techniques for the non-scientist.

MendelWeb -- MendelWeb is an educational resource for teachers and students interested in the origins of classical genetics, introductory data analysis, elementary plant science, and the history and literature of science.

Microscopy Society of America (MSA) – The MSA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion and advancement of the knowledge of the science and practice of all microscopical imaging, analysis and diffraction techniques.

Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago -- Numerous online exhibits, including AIDS: The War Within; learn about the AIDS lifecycle and how scientists are trying to stop the virus, AIDS and HIV testing information and a Teacher's Guide are also available, plus much more.

National Academy of Sciences National Science Education Standards -- The recently published science education standards developed by the National Academy of Sciences in collaboration with hundreds of teacher participants is now available online. The standards document contains recommendations for K-12 science education practices.

National Association of Biology Teachers -- The National Association of Biology Teachers is the largest national association dedicated exclusively to the concerns of biology and life science educators.

National Education Association -- NEA is America's oldest and largest organization committed to advancing the cause of public education. NEA has two million members who work at every level of education, from pre-school to university graduate programs. NEA has affiliates in every state as well as in over 13,000 local communities across the United States.

National Geographic Magazine -- An online version of National Geographic Magazine produced in varying multimedia formats.

National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) -- Access to an extensive list of online resources for learning about and teaching science.

National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) -- The NSTA, founded in 1944 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, is the largest organization in the world committed to the improvement of science education at all levels -- preschool through college.

New Scientist -- A weekly news magazine devoted to science and technology and their impact on the world and the way we live.

Newton, Ask a Scientist -- An Argonne National Laboratory site where students, parents and teachers can submit questions to, and get answers from a group of volunteer scientists. Over 15,000 previously answered questions are on file and available for searching in the NEWTON Archive database.

Nobel Channel -- Learn about Nobel laureates through an interactive experience that includes audio, video, VRML, QuickTime VR, and Shockwave animations.

PBS Online -- You can search or check out PBS Online for high quality, educational content for the Internet brought to you by PBS member stations and public television producers.

PedagoNet -- A on-line database that allows educators to exchange learning materials and educational resources.

Periodic Table Quiz Questions -- Access more than 1000 free, interactive science and chemistry quiz questions per age group and topic for school and college students. This resource was researched, developed and designed by Alwyn Botha located in Hartbeespoort, South Africa.

Random Knowledge Generator -- The Random Knowledge Generator, by the MAD Scientist Network at Washington University, is the ultimate in randomly generated interesting information, such as why are there wrinkles on your skin?

San Diego Center for Molecular Agriculture (SDCMA) -- The San Diego Center for Molecular Agriculture (SDCMA) is an interdepartmental and interinstitutional research center that comprises scientists from the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and The Salk Institute for Biological Studies. It provides a focal point for studies on the molecular improvement of crop improvement and crop protection.

School District Profiles -- View demographic data for all U.S. school districts derived from the Census 2000.

Science Connection -- A science outreach program by faculty and students at the University of Arizona. Included are hands-on science lesson plans, featured activities, and links.

Science Daily Magazine -- ScienceDaily is a free online magazine that brings you breaking news about the latest discoveries and research projects in everything from astrophysics to zoology. Science Learning Network (SLN) -- The SLN is an online community of educators, students, schools, science museums and other institutions demonstrating a new model for inquiry science education.

Science Service -- The mission of the non-profit Science Service, founded in 1921, is to advance public understanding and appreciation of science.  Science Service encourages students, parents, teachers, and communities to explore the vast world of science through its publications and programs, science fairs and scholarship competitions. Science Service helps young people utilize and strengthen their knowledge in science, math, and engineering.

Scientific Life -- An on-line science news service with daily updates from worldwide sources.

The Scientist -- The Scientist uniquely focuses on news, issues and trends that directly impact the career and professional interests of researchers.

SCOPE: Science Controversies Online Parnerships in Education -- SCOPE is establishing on-line, intellectual communities focused on current controversies in science that concern leading research scientists and also connect to the interests of the general public. Forums include global warming, genetically modified foods, declining amphibians, genomics, and malaria.

Smithsonian Institution -- The Smithsonian is worth visiting: explore science, art, history, or human cultures through its multimedia museums and galleries.

Straight Talk about Biotechnology -- Straight Talk about Biotechnology is an educational site provided by DuPont Biotechnology that provides science-based information about agricultural biotechnology, including an extensive newsroom that is updated daily.

University of Wisconsin, Biotech Education Center -- This site provides biotechnology and food teaching curricula and resources, classroom activities and education event information.

Virtual FlyLab/Courseware -- Virtual FlyLab allows you play the role of a research geneticist. It is an educational application for learning the principles of genetic inheritance -- an Electronic Desktop Project from California State University, Los Angeles.

The Why Files -- Read about and look at the science behind the news. Available at the National Institute for Science Education, a National Science Foundation funded project.

WISE: Web-based Inquiry Science Environment -- The Web-based Inquiry Science Environment (WISE) is a free on-line science learning environment for students in grades 4-12, supported by the National Science Foundation. In WISE, students work on exciting inquiry projects on topics such as genetically modified foods, earthquake prediction, and the deformed frogs mystery. Students learn about and respond to contemporary scientific controversies through designing, debating, and critiquing solutions.

Women in Technology International (WITI) -- WITI is dedicated to increasing the number of women in executive roles, helping women become more financially independent and technology-literate and encouraging young women to choose careers in science and technology.

A World of Food and Agriculture: Biotechnology Benefits -- An on-line broshure identifying the consumer and environmental benefits of biotechnology in agriculture.

Young Investor -- A place to learn about money and investing; provided by Liberty Financial, the Young Investor Web Site is dedicated to educating parents on teaching their kids about money and investing.

Your World: Biotechnology and You -- Published by the Biotechnology Institute for 7th to 12th graders. Each issue provides an in-depth exploration of a particular biotechnology topic by looking at the science and its practical applications.
