Introduction
Zorbtive is the only drug product approved by the US Food and Drug Administration specifically for the treatment of SBS in patients receiving specialized nutritional support. Optimal management of SBS may include dietary adjustments, enteral feedings, parenteral nutrition, and fluid and micronutrient supplements, as needed. The recommended dose is 0.1 mg/kg daily up to a maximum of 8 mg per day for a treatment period of four weeks. Zorbtive™ is available in an 8.8 mg vial and is administered by subcutaneous injection.
Zorbtive is used to treat Short Bowel Syndrome (SBS) in patients who are on a specialized diet.
When used with along with special diet, Zorbtive helps your bowel take in more water, electrolytes and nutrients and lowers the need for I.V. (intravenous) feedings.
Zorbtive is not cure for Short Bowel Syndrome.

How it works?
Zorbtive™ [somatropin (rDNA origin) for injection] is an anabolic and anticatabolic agent which exerts its influence by interacting with specific receptors on a variety of cell types including myocytes, hepatocytes, adipocytes, lymphocytes, and hematopoietic cells.

Do not stop using a steroid suddenly or change any of your medication doses without your doctor’s advice
You should not use somatropin if you have cancer, eye problems caused by diabetes. You should not use Zorbtive if you have a serious illness due to lung failure or complications from recent surgery, injury, or medical trauma.
If this medicine is used for weight loss/muscle wasting, it may take up to 2 weeks to notice the effects of the drug. Do not use more of this medication than prescribed or use it more often since the risk of side effects will be increased.
